On Tuesday the DECC previewed the COVID-19 saliva testing stations that will operate here in Duluth through the end of this year.
They call this “no barrier” testing. This means that no insurance or cost will come to anyone that wants to get tested. You don't have to have any symptoms, or had contact with anyone who has COVID-19, it's for anyone who simply wants to get tested.
With reservations, the whole process only takes about ten minutes, and coordinators say is an important pandemic tool.
On Wednesday, the DECC will start providing COVID-19 saliva testing as part of Minnesota's "no barrier" testing initiative so that residents have wider outreach to have tests provided to them.
“Community test sites like this that offer no barrier testing for all Minnesotans are really important to make sure that if you believe that you've come into contact with someone who has COVID or that you don't feel well, that you have tools so you can make smart decisions for yourself,” said Anne O’Connor of the Minnesota COVID Community Testing Response. “And to quarantine to wear masks, to wash hands, and to keep everyone in your community safe.”
Testing begins Wednesday and the operation is open on Wednesdays through Fridays from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Testing is also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
